"Drupal 8 might be going after a higher tier of developer, but I, for one, love the community I'm a part of right now." I think it's important to be careful with these types of statements since it seems to suggest those who are working on Drupal 8 do not love the community now. It's doubtful folks would contribute at the level they are if they didn't care about the community. "What bothers me, is that so many people are thinking of leaving Drupal - because they fear that Drupal 8 will leave them behind." If that bothers you, why perpetuate the thinking that Drupal 8 will leave them behind? Do you not believe developers can learn these approaches? Or, do you not trust the community to step up and offer the training and documentation needed to help others get there? I know those are tough questions but reasonable, given what is said here.
