I share the same concerns about learning D8, I got into Drupal 7 two years ago when I took my first job out of uni and have recently had my first module published. I've not delved much into OO PHP but I know I will have to, I suppose it's just the 'new thing is scary' thought that appears with anything new (not just CMS'). I plan to stick and learn D8, but backdrop really interests me at the moment so I'm following it and seeing where it goes.
Formatting options
Basic
To post pieces of code, surround them with <code>...</code> tags. For PHP code, you can use <?php ... ?>, which will also color it based on syntax.
Web page addresses and email addresses turn into links automatically, unless the parent tag has the 'nolink' class.
Lines and paragraphs break automatically.
Allowed HTML tags: <a> <em> <strong> <blockquote> <code> <ul> <ol> <li> <div> <p> <br> <pre> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <figure> <img> <figcaption> <hr>
