Thank you for this Jen, you've expressed it well. Drupal is great: complex, powerful yet fun... the rush/race to release is bad but. People haven't had enough time learn, or use, D7 - they're not going to just abandon the not-inconsiderable investment in time and resources made over the last 12-18 months to learn the new paradigms of D8... and by the time that happens, do it all over again for D9...
Formatting options
Basic
To post pieces of code, surround them with <code>...</code> tags. For PHP code, you can use <?php ... ?>, which will also color it based on syntax.
Web page addresses and email addresses turn into links automatically, unless the parent tag has the 'nolink' class.
Lines and paragraphs break automatically.
Allowed HTML tags: <a> <em> <strong> <blockquote> <code> <ul> <ol> <li> <div> <p> <br> <pre> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <figure> <img> <figcaption> <hr>
