I'm sure a lot of people agree with you. Drupal 8 has brand, and a lot of great people working on it, and I'm sure it will be successful. We'd love to get something like coder module that could help you port your modules to backdrop, but even without it we're hoping we can still create incentives for maintainers to port their modules to backdrop. Making it easier to port to backdrop is one. Releasing a stable 1.0.0 version of Backdrop before Drupal 8 is out is another. Adding new features often is a third. Over time people will have more and more reasons to choose one over the other.
Formatting options
Basic
To post pieces of code, surround them with <code>...</code> tags. For PHP code, you can use <?php ... ?>, which will also color it based on syntax.
Web page addresses and email addresses turn into links automatically, unless the parent tag has the 'nolink' class.
Lines and paragraphs break automatically.
