Thanks Ron, that's how I'd like to think about it too. Long Term Support (LTS) for Drupal 7 is not very realistic because we wouldn't be able to add new features. And we like new features. Backdrop is basically that, long term support, plus new features, and also the ability to change APIs - if necessary.
Formatting options
Basic
To post pieces of code, surround them with <code>...</code> tags. For PHP code, you can use <?php ... ?>, which will also color it based on syntax.
Web page addresses and email addresses turn into links automatically, unless the parent tag has the 'nolink' class.
Lines and paragraphs break automatically.
Allowed HTML tags: <a> <em> <strong> <blockquote> <code> <ul> <ol> <li> <div> <p> <br> <pre> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <figure> <img> <figcaption> <hr>
