I'm excited by the cultural promise inherent in this suggestion to fork Drupal. But for the idea to catch on, it can't be just a crew slaving over the new release, outa sight, outa mind. Backdrop has to be gaining mindshare, and acquiring an identity. To become something, it's important to have like-minded folks coming together on the idea. Did it already fizzle? Are the leaders sequestered in a private maelstrom of code & policy issues? I'd love to see a vibrant & lively Backdropcms website pulling those of a susceptible sentiment into mutual orbit. Is that going to happen? :)
